Quadrille - Spin
Come now children sit thee in a circle
I'll spin a yarn, yes i'll tell a tale
No one will leave until i say crick crack
And the story ends.
Tales of dounes and silk cotton trees
And spiders spinning their very finest web

Oh, I like that "crick crack." A little haunting, and beautifully so.

Lovely, Gillena. Like an old tale--I can imagine the children sitting to hear it. 💙

I know you read to kids at school so I imagine you there telling the tale. I think there is a "universal ending" in fairy tales, be it crick crack, snip snap snout the tale is told out, or they lived happily ever after for 3 of them.
ReplyDeleteoh i do read to kids but its at the library 😊

You have captured the way that children give rapt attention to adult storytellers who treat them like they matter and weave tales that speak to their imaginations. Nice!
